So from this perspective, Todoist isn't as easy to use as it was before - the new Outlook add-in isn't the best and slows me down.Īnother way my life has changed is that I'm now in a different role at work.

Also, gone are the options to use natural language to add the email as a task assigned to a project or priority - everything is now manual entry. Now, if I move the email to a different location from where the task was created, it craps out on me. I used to be able to create a Todoist task from an email, and from there, I could archive the emails when needed, move them to other folders, and the Todoist add-in would let me click the task and open said email every time. This means the Outlook add-in I've been using for years is broken.

In light of that, I'm wondering if any of you have experienced something similar or have any input. I'm a happy customer, but my needs have changed somewhat. So this isn't one of those "goodbye forever" posts.

I hope this gives you some ideas on how to use the Outlook 365 addin.I've been using Todoist for years and I love it.

I can even update the calendar entry in Outlook and it then updates Todoist. This gives me full access to scheduled Todoist tasks within Outlook. I also have Todoist synced to google calendar and have google calendar added to Outlook calendar.

There is also a browser-based app you can install to be like a desktop app. So I hope the Todoist team can fix it.īut with that limitation/bug, here is how I now work. I know the frustration of moving an email after creating a task and it breaks the links. I barely use the Desktop Outlook client now and I am loving Office 365 Outlook. I have now completely switched over to the Office 365 Outlook way of working. For example, if I was on my phone or personal computer I couldn't easily see what the email was associated with the task. I did really like the Desktop Outlook Addin but its main limitation was that I couldn't open my email from Todoist while I was away from my computer.

Unless there's some good news or a system I'm not aware of regarding a better Todoist/Outlook workflow? MS ToDo is simple I agree, but it integrates very well with Outlook and Teams. For the first time since I started in Todoist 6 years ago, I'm considering sticking with another app. I ended up using MS ToDo this week and it seems to have better integration. There's also no natural language input in the Outlook add-in anymore, so I'm left clicking through the boxes to assign projects and info. I can create a task from an email, but if I move that email somewhere else after the task is created it breaks the link. My company recently moved us all to Office 365 and the Todoist extension for it is not nearly as slick. Doing so would open the email in Outlook (desktop) and I could reply to the person - it was flawless. A few days later I'd see that email/task in my Todoist, complete the task, then click on the item. I would get an email from someone, create a task from the email in Outlook, and file the email away and forget about it. I've been using older versions of Outlook for a while now and the old Todoist plug-in worked fine.
